Dynamic Studio Courses

Every student can participate in a wide variety of academic, fine arts and youth development programs every day.

For scores of students, youth development programs provide the relevance and authenticity they need to commit to school. Such courses also bolster student achievement in core academic areas and help link learning to life.

Every student at a Generation School will participate daily in a wide range of carefully planned studio courses. These high-quality youth development programs will motivate students to achieve their best throughout high school and prepare them for success in college. A vast range of opportunities will enable students to pursue personal interests and explore new experiences. Each student can receive instruction in a foreign language and the arts and physical fitness and academic remediation or enrichment every day. Instructional technology will be woven throughout.

Home Base Advisors will consult with each student to ensure all graduation requirements are satisfied and that each child participates in a diverse array of programs. Partners will work with residents who are developing and teaching specific courses. Faculty will both bring community members into the school and take students into the community. Extensive common planning time will ensure that each partnership is well-organized and thoughtfully incorporated into the broader curriculum.
