Brooklyn Generation School welcomed its first class of students on September 4, 2007. The ninth grade students were greeted by the school's remarkable staff as well as the Generation Schools Network. Located in the South Shore High School campus, the school serves the communities of Canarsie, East Flatbush, Flatlands and other surrounding neighborhoods. During its first year (2007 - 2008), Brooklyn Generation served ninth grade students. In 2008-2009 it is serving students in 9th and 10th grade. Each subsequent year it will add a grade, growing ultimately to serve students grades 6 - 12.
